Miami, Fla. — Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman announced that Samantha Soto has joined the firm as an associate. She is part of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group.
Soto handles discrimination charges and lawsuits brought against public and private employers pursuant to state and federal anti-discrimination and wage and hour laws, including Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Florida Civil Rights Act and the Florida Whistle-blower’s Act. She advises employers with respect to employee discipline, retention and termination, employment manuals and policies and contract interpretation.
Prior to joining the firm, Soto was a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where she handled all phases of employment discrimination matters on behalf of the federal government. In addition, she practiced commercial litigation for several years at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in New York and Hughes Hubbard & Reed in Miami, two of the nation’s largest law firms, where she focused on products liability and securities law.
Soto earned her JD from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Teaching Fellow and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. She is admitted to The Florida Bar and The New York Bar.
