MITCHELL BIERMAN OF WEISS SEROTA HELFMAN COLE & BIERMAN NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE GREATER MIAMI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE

Mitchell Bierman, partner-in-charge of the Miami office of Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, has been appointed Chairman of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. As Chairman, Bierman will be the primary point of contact between the Miami-Dade business community and various multiple local, state, federal, and private transportation agencies that serve this community.

The committee has numerous goals, among them are:

· Galvanize Chamber leadership to address the most impactful issue stifling economic growth.
· Increase attendance in statewide meetings for larger share of state funding for the region.
· Organize educational forums in concert with local interested parties that address future, new and/or proven sustainable transportation technologies.
· Engage in the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) restructuring discussion to ensure appropriate representation of business interests.
· Support New World Center Committee downtown transportation task force initiatives.

Bierman handles government affairs and administrative law matters for major international companies in the transportation, airport, environmental and solid waste, and engineering and construction industries. His work includes winning and negotiating large public contracts, public private partnerships, public infrastructure improvements and affordable housing developments as well as advocating for industry clients on public policy issues affecting their industries.

In addition to his work as an attorney and advocate, Bierman is a leading community advocate for the arts in Miami. He currently serves as Corporate Secretary for the Board of Trustees of the Perez Art Museum Miami and as a member of the Board of Governors of the Miami Foundation. He was also named to the Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council and recently completed his four-year service as a trustee of the Miami Dade County Art in Public Places Trust.
