Candice Pinares-Baez, associate at Fisher & Phillip, LLP, addressed attendees of the National Business Officers Association (NBOA) annual meeting with a topical presentation titled “Scandal Erupts: Now What?” In her presentation, she explores the strategies, policies and procedures that can help minimize a school’s liability risk in the event a crisis or scandal occurs.
Pinares-Baez’s practice is focused on defending employment-related lawsuits and administrative complaints encompassing a variety of issues, including discrimination claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Florida Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and other federal and state employment laws, and related tort actions. She has successfully litigated matters before state and federal courts and also advises clients on preventive measures aimed at reducing employment-related claims.
Pinares-Baez was a selected to the Florida Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for 2009, and was recently named as a 40 Under 40 honoree by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She earned her J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law, cum laude.
