Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman Adds Five New Attorneys

Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman announced that the firm has added five new attorneys.   David Williams, Jr., Michael Kantor, Lawrence Raab, Haydee Sera and Ellen Gantner have all joined as associates, bringing the total attorney count to more than 60 attorneys.

 

“We are pleased to welcome these five new associates, and know that their education, enthusiasm and experience will benefit the firm and our clients,” said Jamie Cole, managing director at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman.

 

David Williams, Jr. joins the firm in the Miami-Dade office, where he will be an integral part of the Construction Law Group and part of its Litigation Division.  He has handled complex construction and general construction cases regarding defects, design errors and omissions, delay claims, construction liens, ADA violations, bid protests, surety bond claims and breach of contract claims on behalf of general contractors, subcontractors, materialmen, suppliers, public entities and developers.  Williams earned his juris doctor degree from Florida International University’s (FIU) College of Law.  He currently serves as the assistant coach for FIU’s College of Law’s trial team.  In addition, he mentors with the Liberty City Empowered Youth Entrepreneurs Program and is also an active member of the Florida Bar’s Young Lawyer’s Division.

 

Lawrence Raab, also resident in the Miami-Dade office, joins the Real Estate Division. His prior professional experience includes serving as a legislative assistant to Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen in Washington, D.C., and as Counsel to the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources. Most recently, Lawrence worked as an associate in the Orlando office of Broad and Cassel where he represented investors, developers and lenders in connection with the acquisition, disposition, leasing, financing and development of commercial and residential real estate.  He also previously served as an intern at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman.  Raab earned his juris doctor degree from the Syracuse University College of Law and an LL.M. in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law.

 

Michael Kantor joins the Firm’s Labor Group and will be based in the Broward office.  He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Florida and his law degree from Nova Southeastern Law School.  He previously worked at Jackson Lewis and Boyd Richards.

 

Haydee Sera will work out of the Miami-Dade office and is part of the Firm’s Municipal Government Law practice, where she provides general representation to municipalities on a broad range of issues such as elections, ethics, public records and sunshine law, including shade-sessions. Prior to joining the Firm, Sera was the Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Miami Lakes where she served as counsel to the Town’s Planning and Zoning Board, Charter Revision Commission and advisory committees.  She earned her juris doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law and is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Cuban American Bar Association.

 

Elen Gantner joins the Municipal Law Group working out of the Broward office.  She focuses on general government law. Immediately prior to joining the firm, Gantner served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Judge W. Matthew Stevenson at the Fourth District Court of Appeal. While at the Fourth District Court of Appeal, she gained experience in Florida’s appellate practice.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center in 2015.
