Founder Howard Talenfeld Selected to 2018 Florida

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Talenfeld Law, the first law firm in Florida to focus exclusively on protecting the rights of physically and sexually abused, medically fragile, foster and other at-risk children, is proud to announce that two of the firm’s partners have been included in the 2018 edition of Florida Super Lawyers magazine. Firm partner Stacie J. Schmerling was selected to the 2018 Rising Stars list and founder Howard M. Talenfeld was named on the 2018 Florida Super Lawyers list.
Schmerling handles matters regarding the protection of the rights of children, the developmentally disabled and others injured in the care of Florida agencies and contracted care providers. She is a former veteran child welfare investigator and social worker and has been involved in many significant, multimillion dollar cases in the area of civil rights and child welfare. She has earned an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell® and is admitted to practice law in Florida as well the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. This is her first year on the Rising Stars list.
Talenfeld has been listed in Florida Super Lawyers for 12 consecutive years, having first appeared on the list in 2006. He was also named in the Top 100: 2014 Miami Super Lawyers list. He is known throughout the legal community and national media as having established one of the nation’s premier children’s rights practices. Over his legal career, Talenfeld has been instrumental in the passage of landmark legislation in Florida, including a recent statute that provides legal representation to dependent children with special needs. He is rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell® and was recently recognized by The Florida Bar Foundation as the recipient of the 2018 Medal of Honor Award for a Lawyer.
