Michael J. Ryan Participates in Democratic Professionals Network

Fort Lauderdale, FL – Michael J. Ryan, Mayor of Sunrise and partner at the law firm of Krupnick Campbell Malone Buser Slama Hancock & Liberman, recently participated in a panel discussion with the Democratic Professionals Network.  He was one of three professionals addressing the question “Should Broward County Elect Its Mayor?”

The Democratic Professionals Network (DPN) is a group of progressive leaders in Broward County dedicated to collaborating with other leaders. The goal is to engage the progressive community in campaigns, events and policy issues that will affect the lives of its residents and to bring about changes in business and policy.

The panel also included George Platt, managing partner at LSN Partners and Tim Ryan, County Commissioner, District 7.

“It was a pleasure to be a part of the lively debate about electing our county mayor,” said Ryan.  “For continuity of leadership on important issues of economic development, jobs, infrastructure and transportation, rising sea levels, tourism and so much more, it is a fundamental part of democracy that the 1.9 million people of Broward County should have a say in who is Mayor of Broward County, not just five people on a County Commission”

Active in the community, Ryan has served as Chair of the Broward League of Cities Public Safety Committee; Chair and co-Chair of the Broward County Consolidated Communications Committee; Co-Chair of the Broward County League of Cities’ Joint School Resource Officers Task Force; a member of the Broward County Regional Planning Council; a participant in the Broward Chiefs of Police Association Committee on Domestic Violence Injunction Process in Broward County; and, Co-Chair of the Communications Working Group of the Strengthening Police Community Relations Task Force in Broward County.

Ryan is also an active member of the American Association for Justice, Florida Justice Association and the Broward County Justice Association.
