Three Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman attorneys have taken board positions with the Broward Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.   Member Matthew Mandel and associates Trevor Jones and Anne Reilly have been appointed to the board.  Mandel is a former Chapter President and has been on the Board since 2008 while Jones is a prior board member who established and serves as the chair of the Federal Law Clerks Division.

 

The Broward County Chapter of the Federal Bar Association has been recognized with a Chapter Achievement Award for its service to the Federal Bar and the local community.   The mission of the Federal Bar Association is to strengthen the federal legal system and administration of justice by serving the interests and the needs of the federal practitioner, both public and private, the federal judiciary and the public they serve.

 

Matthew Mandel is Chair of the firm’s Litigation Division. He has extensive litigation and trial experience at both the State and Federal levels for both municipal and private clients. Matt’s municipal litigation experience has involved the successful representation of numerous Florida cities in First Amendment challenges to municipal sign codes and adult use regulations; discrimination claims under the Fair Housing Amendments Act and Americans with Disabilities Act; and Federal and State claims for false arrest, excessive force and malicious prosecution.  He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and admitted to The Florida Bar, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th and 11th Circuit; and the U.S. District Court, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.

 

Trevor Jones focuses on commercial and governmental litigation, appellate practice, and construction law.   He is also a Board Member of HANDY’s NextGen group whose mission is to embrace, educate and empower vulnerable youth to become engaged, productive adults. He is admitted to the Florida Bar and the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida.

 

Anne Reilly focuses her practice on municipal and commercial litigation. She represents local governments including First Amendment claims, land use issues and other federal discrimination matters.  Her civil litigation practice also includes contract disputes, complex civil litigation and real property claims.  She is admitted to The Florida Bar, the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida and the New York Bar.
