Marcus Susen of Koch Parafinczuk Wolf Susen Becomes Board Certified in Civil Trial Law

 

FORT LAUDERDALE— Shareholder Marcus Susen of the Fort Lauderdale-based law firm Koch Parafinczuk Wolf Susen has become Board Certified in Civil Trial Law.  The Florida Bar’s certification program is consistently recognized as a national leader among other state certification programs.

Susen, who was appointed to the Plaintiffs Steering Committee for litigation involving the permanent birth control device Essure and spearheaded the litigation on the cases since their inception, is in an elite group of approximately two percent of lawyers who are board certified.   All attorneys who earn this designation must have met the following criteria:

 

  • Practice law for at least five years
  • Be substantially involved in the specialty of civil trial law – 50% or more – during the three years immediately preceding application
  • Handled at least 15 contested civil cases, including cases before juries as lead counsel and as trier of fact on some or all of the issues
  • Completed 50 hours of approved civil law trial law certification continuing legal education
  • Received Peer Review
  • Pass a written examination

According to The Florida Bar, “Board certification recognizes attorneys’ special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of law and professionalism and ethics in practice.”

 

Susen focuses his practice on all facets of litigation. He has tried cases in both state and federal courts involving an array of claims including products liability, premises liability, auto accidents, breach of contract.

 

He earned his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University School of Law and is admitted to the Florida Bar as well as the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
