(October 17, 2017)- Legal Aid Service of Broward County (LAS) and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (CCLA), are proud to announce the honorees to be recognized during its annual fundraising event, For the Public Good. The event will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017 at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale. The event starts at 6 p.m.

The evening reception will pay tribute to six outstanding community advocates including Jesse Diner Esq., who will receive the Russell E. Carlisle Advocacy Award; Steve Jaffe, Esq. who will receive the Commitment to Justice Award; Talenfeld Law – Law Firm of the Year Award; Paul Regensdorf, Esq. who will receive the Spirit of Justice Award; Chad Van Horn, Esq. who will receive Attorney of the Year Award; and Heidi Vainio of Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida who will receive the Jacquelyn and Bruce Rogow Employee of the Year Award.

Now in its 16th year, the event celebrates members of the community who go above and beyond in their efforts to secure justice and change lives for the underprivileged and underserved in Broward County. An estimated 400 Broward County lawyers, judges and community leaders are expected to be in attendance, for what is widely-noted throughout Broward as the leading pro-bono recognition event of the year.

Proceeds from the event benefit children and families served by LAS and CCLA and enable both organizations to serve greater numbers of those in need.  A few of the many legal services provided include helping seniors and veterans gain much needed benefits, abused children in foster care, the homeless, children in need of special education, victims of domestic violence, persons living with HIV/AIDS and families losing their homes to foreclosure. Both organizations aim to improve access to justice and deliver social and economic freedoms to low-income, vulnerable and other marginalized populations.
