Koch Parafinczuk Wolf Susen Hosts Exclusive Pre-Screening of Tribeca Film Festival feature “The Bleeding Edge”

Attorneys continue push to remove dangerous medical devices from the market

FORT LAUDERDALE— Koch Parafinczuk Wolf Susen hosted an exclusive pre-screening of The Bleeding Edge, a documentary that delves deep into the $400 billion medical device industry from Academy Award® nominated filmmakers Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering at the Classic Gateway Theatre in Fort Lauderdale. The screening was followed by a Q&A panel featuring patients Angie Firmalino and Amanda Dykeman, who were impacted by some of the devices presented in the film.

Firm partners Marcus Susen and Justin Parafinczuk have been at the forefront of the national litigation against the permanent form of birth control, Essure that includes more than 10,000 cases throughout the country.  The two attorneys have handled the litigation on these cases since their inception, prior to any other lawyers filing similar suits, representing more than 1,000 women who had adverse reactions to the permanent birth control device.

Earlier this year, they were named to the plaintiff’s steering committee for Essure, with Susen serving as lead counsel for the entire committee and Parafinczuk appointed discovery chair.

“These devices have been causing harm to patients for years,” said Susen. “It’s important that we spread awareness of what’s going on, work to put an end to the pain and suffering and start holding these companies accountable.”

The Bleeding Edge premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and is scheduled for a national release on Netflix this summer.
