Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Stacie J. Schmerling, a children’s rights lawyer and partner with Talenfeld Law, has earned an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating, the highest peer rating standard awarded by Martindale-Hubbell®. Schmerling is a former veteran child welfare investigator and has been involved in many significant, multimillion dollar cases in the area of civil rights and child welfare.

Before becoming an attorney, Schmerling dedicated the first ten years of her career to the protection of at-risk children.  She earned a reputation as an award-winning child protective investigator and child protective investigator supervisor for the Broward Sheriff’s Office, investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect, providing intervention services to families at risk and bringing cases of child abuse and neglect to the dependency court system. Prior to that, she was a case worker with the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, where she sought to facilitate safety and permanency for abused and neglected children in the state foster care system.

Schmerling is admitted to practice law in Florida as well the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
