Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney’s S. Carey Villeneuve Appointed to Fort Lauderdale Civic Boards

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.November 16, 2015—Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Associate S. Carey Villeneuve has added to a growing list of civic contributions by accepting appointments to the City of Fort Lauderdale Board of Adjustment and Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale’s Board of Directors.

 

Villeneuve, who is based in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office, is now one of seven regular members appointed by Fort Lauderdale commissioners to the Board of Adjustment, a quasi-judicial entity that hears and rules on applications for temporary nonconforming use permits, special exemptions and variances to the city’s Uniform Land Development Regulations. Members serve two-year terms. Villeneuve was previously a member of the city’s Education Advisory Board.

 

In addition to the Board of Adjustment appointment, Villeneuve has been re-appointed to the Board of Directors of Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale is responsible for planning, programming, beautification and promotion of the city’s Riverwalk Park. The organization frequently holds fundraising and membership events and publishes the GoRiverwalk magazine.

 

Villeneuve also serves on Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale’s Master Plan & Projects Committee.

 

Villeneuve, who earned his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor degree at the University of Florida, concentrates his law practice on business litigation and appeals, including disputes involving contracts, business torts and trademarks. He also focuses on cases involving jurisdictional challenges.

 

Though his litigation practice is primarily in federal court, Villeneuve has handled trial and appellate cases throughout the state courts of Florida.
