Alison Smith, Partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, Reappointed to the Board of Directors for the Broward County Bar

 

 

 

 

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Alison Smith, partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, was re-elected to the Board of Directors for the Broward County Bar Association.  She has already served for two years, and will be sworn in for an additional two years on July 1, 2017.

 

The Broward County Bar Association is a nonprofit organization founded in 1925 to foster courtesy, ethics, and professionalism among Broward County lawyers, to educate the citizens of Broward County on their legal rights, and to provide necessary legal services to Broward County’s residents.  It is the largest voluntary bar association in Broward County.

 

Smith is a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association and is also the former chair of board of directors for the Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Cost-to-Coast Legal Aid.  Smith focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment, commercial litigation and administrative and regulatory law, with direct experience handling cases involving civil rights and constitutional law claims.  She is admitted to the Florida Bar, the U.S. District Courts of Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit.

 

She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University School of Law.
