Alison Smith, Partner At Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, Named To Nova Southeastern University School Of Law Steering Committee

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Alison Smith, partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, was named to Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law newly created Downtown Counsel Association Steering Committee. NSU’s Shepard Broad College of Law offers degree and certificate programs for law students, paralegal, practicing lawyers and professionals expanding their knowledge of law.

Smith, an alumni of both NSU’s undergraduate program and its law school, is also on the Criminal Justice Advisory Board of Keiser University.

The goal of this newly formed committee is to enhance the social opportunities for the NSU Law alumni, to support the philanthropic and placement goals for the law school and to engage in fun, social and occasionally provocative programs. It is focused on the emerging alumni leaders in the downtown Fort Lauderdale area.

Smith is currently on the board of directors for the Broward County Bar Association, a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association, and also the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Coast-to-Coast Legal Aid. She focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment, commercial litigation and administrative and regulatory law, with direct experience handling cases involving civil rights and constitutional law claims.

Smith, graduated magna cum laude from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law, and was valedictorian of her class.
