Alison Smith, Partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, named to Keiser University’s Criminal Justice Advisory Board

 

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Alison Smith, partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, was named to Keiser University’s Criminal Justice Advisory Board.  Keiser University is a private, not-for-profit, regionally accredited university with a philosophy of serving “students first.”  Smith is already a member of the university’s general advisory board.

 

The Keiser University Criminal Justice Advisory Board seeks to provide the university with valuable information on ways of moving forward with its Criminal Justice/ Homeland Security/Legal Studies/Paralegal programs.   The advisory board often comprises senior police and sheriff law enforcement personnel from various agencies, as well as Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents, police administrators, DEA agents, corrections personnel, as well as attorneys and professors.

 

Smith is a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association and is also the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Coast-to-Coast Legal Aid.  Smith focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment, commercial litigation and administrative and regulatory law, with direct experience handling cases involving civil rights and constitutional law claims.

 

She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University School of Law and was valedictorian of her class.
