Alison Smith, Partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, Elected as Broward County Bar Association Secretary

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Alison Smith, a partner with Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, P.L., has been elected to serve as the secretary of the Broward County Bar Association.

Smith previously served on the board of directors for the Broward County Bar Association for four years.

“I am truly honored to take on this role with the Broward County Bar Association,” said Smith. “The BCBA is filled with talented women and men, so to be chosen by the group to carry out the role of secretary, eventually leading to the role of president, is a tremendous honor. With my experience as a board member of the Association for four years, I know I can take this position head on.”

Smith was recently recognized as a 2019 Up & Comer by South Florida Business & Wealth magazine, and also serves as the City Attorney for the City of Miramar.

Smith is a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association as well as past chair of the Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Coast-to-Coast Legal Aid. She focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment, commercial litigation and administrative and regulatory law, with direct experience handling cases involving civil rights and constitutional law claims.

Smith graduated magna cum laude from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law and served as valedictorian of her class.
