New partner brings vast government experience in key local governments to premier group

 

Miami, FL — Feb. 26, 2018 — Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced that former Broward County Attorney Joni Armstrong Coffey has joined the firm’s Land Use and Development Practice as a partner in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale offices. Prior to her work with the Broward County Attorney’s Office, she served as assistant county attorney for Miami-Dade County and headed its Zoning, Land Use and Environment Section.

Board Certified in City, County and Local Government by The Florida Bar, Coffey focuses her practice on local government issues, with an emphasis on land use regulation and litigation. She also is experienced in government procurement and contracts. Coffey is past chair of The Florida Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization and Education and a former chair of The Florida Bar’s City, County and Local Government Law Section. She currently serves as an adjunct professor at Florida International University College of Law and St. Thomas University Law School.rob Her work has earned her several awards for public law service.
